If Nothing Changes - Nothing Changes!

I think very few of us have the body we would like to have, nor do we have the will power to create the body we desire. One thing I have learned in life is that "if nothing changes - nothing changes".

If you want to make a change in any aspect of your life you need to make change happen.

Baby steps is the key.

Did you know that it takes humans 6 weeks to change a habit in their life? That’s really not a long time when you consider how fast time goes.

Small changes expand into big changes. Big changes expand into big results.

If you drink 2 cans of coke a day, swap one can of coke over for a bottle of water. A few days later swap that can of coke over to a bottle of water. You have now started drinking 1 litre of water a day as a bottle of water is 500ml.

When you give up coke or soft drink, your body will crave the sugar and caffeine and you may feel a little tired or have headaches. That’s your body withdrawing the crap out of your system. But don’t give in, because remember “if nothing changes - nothing changes."

Now what if you turned that 2 bottles of water into 3 bottles and then 4 bottles? That’s one massive shift in your health by making just one change. You’ll lose weight, your skin will look better and you will feel healthier. Your body will be hydrated, your mind will be clearer and your organs will be detoxified.

If you are a junk food eater, instead of going cold turkey, maybe next time you drive through Maccas drive through, instead of ordering a super size burger and a super size fries and a super size soft drink, you could just order a smaller burger and a smaller fries and a water instead of a soft drink. If you drink half the bottle of water before you eat your burger and fries, you will feel more full afterwards.

Learn to chew food slowly and take time to eat your food. You will always eat less when you take your time. It takes around 15 minutes for the brain to register that you are full, so if you just scoff your food - you will over eat every time.

Lie on the ground at night when you are watching tv and just do little crunches by lying flat on your back and lifting your knees to a bent position.

  • Clasp your hands behind your head and do very slow crunches.

  • Hold your tummy in tight so your lower back is supported and breathe out as you sit up with each crunch and breath in as you go back down to lie flat.

  • Keep your chin down to your chest.

  • Count to ten on the way up and ten on the way back down.

  • Do this to start with just ten times.

The next night do the same but 15 times, the next night 20 times and until you just do these slow crunches until you feel you can’t do anymore. So guess what? You’ve actually just started exercising and strengthening your core and burning calories. Now it wasn’t that bad was it?

So maybe now you can add on doing some squats.

  • Just stand with your feet out at shoulder width and place hands on your hips.

  • Slowly squat down keeping your back straight, don’t lean over forward.

  • Count to ten slowly breathing out as you squat down and breathe in and count to ten as you come back up.

  • This will strengthen your leg muscles and also you are burning calories.

It’s just these small changes you make each day that make big changes to your life.

If you wake up one day and decide to diet, go to the gym and stop smoking - you are destined to fail. Just do things in baby steps.

"What you think about you bring about." The power of the mind is everything. If you keep thinking how you can’t have chocolate or junk food, all you want to do is have it! It’s all you are thinking about.

You see whether you think about not having a can of coke or you think about having one, your mind only can see that you are focusing on the coke. And guess what? You’ll want one.

So maybe focus on a cool glass of water, which is refreshing and is the life force energy the body needs to rehydrate and eliminate toxins.

Think about the benefits of having something, rather than fixating on what you can’t have.

Welcome to the start of your new journey.
