Adding Your Special Touch to Your Wedding Ceremony

Today we are going to talk about adding unique touches to your wedding ceremony.

There are many different ways to add something a little different and unique to your ceremony - but these are my favourites:

Sand Pouring is the flowing of sand and blending of the colours in the to symbolise the bringing together of two lives into one.

The two sands symbolise everything that the bride and groom have been or will become in the future.

You can buy a sand pouring kit - or just buy some glass jars with lids that you love and some coloured sand.

It’s popular for just the couple to pour their sand together from two vessels into one to create something really pretty and unique, or maybe get your kids to join in and have a whole bunch of different colours.

It’s fun to do, makes great photos and isn’t expensive.

Hand Fastening ceremonies are commonly used in Wiccan and Pagan ceremonies.

A couple will bind their hands together during the wedding ceremony (before, during, or after reciting their vows), to symbolize their connection and devotion to one another.

Your celebrant will bind your hands together with cord or a piece of fabric of your choice.

Some priests won’t do this so it may be more suited to a celebrant. It’s quite intimate and personal and adds a unique touch to your ceremony.

Jumping the broom is a ceremony in which the bride and groom signify their entrance into a new life and their creation of a new family by “sweeping away” their former single lives, former problems and concerns, and jumping over the broom to enter upon a new path.

A traditional flat straw broom is used, which you may decorate if you like.

The celebrant will lay it down in front of you and you will both jump over it together. It’s lots of fun makes for great photos and leaves you with a very unique momento from your wedding day.

Ring warming is a lovely way to involve your guests into your ceremony.

Place your wedding rings in a small organza bag so they can see the rings, but they are protected.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the celebrant or priest will pass it to the guests and during the ceremony they will pass it amongst themselves adding their love and energy into your wedding bands.

I recommend instructing that each person only holds it for 10 seconds and passes it on or it can really slow up your wedding ceremony.
